Late in the 10th century a group of Vikings established a fortified
community on an island at the mouth of the Oder River. It was called
Jomsborg, and for more than a century it was the home of the most
renowned warriors of the medieval world, the Jomsvikings. Utterly
fearless in battle, valuing their honor above all else, their exploits
