Will, "the thing in itself," is our very being,
is why we exist, is competition to survive. If we subjugate
our will to our conscious intellect, we drop out of
competition; we do not survive. We do not come and go from
nothing but are links in an endless chain. Schopenhauer
turned the world upside down and changed the thinking of
Nietzsche and those who came after.
